About Us

The Providence Free School isn’t a school in the traditional, institutional sense — instead, it’s a framework for grassroots, community self-education. We facilitate the sharing and expansion of skills and knowledge, and our emphasis is on empowerment and mutual support, rather than professional or institutional development.

Providence Free School is affiliated with and initially based out of Libertalia, a collectively-run autonomous space that hosts an event/meeting space, an infoshop, and a radical lending library. But the Free School is a separate entity, and holds classes in other settings as needed and as appropriate. For more information about Libertalia, check out http://www.libertaliapvd.org.
